Treating Alcoholism With Hypnotherapy: Does It Really Work? |
|
|
Many people believe that any addiction or habitual problem can be solved permanently through hypnosis, even drug addiction and chemical dependency. It is true that alcohol addiction often is a physical addiction as well as a psychological one, but many people have found success in solving their alcohol addiction through alcoholism hypnotherapy. If solving the physical dependence to alcohol was all it took to cure an alcoholic, treatment would stop after the detox phase when all alcohol was out of the person’s body. Unfortunately, alcohol addiction is more than just physical, it also has physiological and emotional causes that can be extremely hard to overcome. Conventional alcohol treatment is only effective about 12 percent of the time, the rest relapse and either have to undergo treatment again before they beat their addiction or fail altogether. Because traditional alcohol treatment such as support groups and treatment centers are not highly successful, any people who have alcohol addiction turn to hypnotherapy to overcome their dependence on alcohol. Hypnosis is a quick process that is also safe and can be effective for many people. People who have tried conventional treatment methods often urn to hypnotherapy after their first attempts to become sober fail. Hypnosis addresses the root cause of alcoholism and help people to overcome their psychological and emotional dependence. Addressing the Cause People become addicted to alcohol for a reason, other than a physical one. Long before a physical addiction develops alcoholics are compelled to drink. The reason can be to relax, cope with problems, escape reality and everyday life, to relieve pain, or to feel socially accepted. People may also drink for other reasons or for a combination of reasons. Needing to find an outlet for problems, emotions, or pain is normal, but turning to alcohol for that release is what causes the problem. Alcoholism hypnotherapy addresses the underlying cause of a drinking problem. Hypnotherapy will essentially reprogram a person’s subconscious so that they can use other, more healthy things, to cope with the underlying cause of their drinking. When people are given an alternative to drinking at a subconscious level they will no longer feel the psychological and emotional need to drink and will find healthy ways to cope with problems, relax, or relieve pain. People who find a healthy alternative at this level will feel good without drinking and this makes hypnotherapy a permanent solution. Alcoholism hypnotherapy does work for many people, but not all. People who are not ready to stop drinking or are resistant to treatment will likely not succeed with this or any method. The most important thing that anyone needs in order to overcome alcohol addiction is the motivation to stop. When a person is ready to address their alcohol problem, hypnotherapy is a good option for them. Top 13 Symptoms Alcoholism Withdrawal |
